Community Wildflowers – Abbotts Barton Pilot Project
Wilder Hyde and Abbotts Barton Community Group are working in collaboration with Winchester City Council to develop wildflower areas around Abbotts Barton and Hyde. We have launched a pilot project using two grass verges on Chaundler Road, Abbotts Barton. These areas have been prepared and spread with green hay, which is rich in wildflower seeds and will now be cut less often to allow the existing wildflowers and grasses to grow. This will create an improved habitat for wildflowers, pollinators and small mammals. We hope to roll this out to other areas in the future. If you would like to get in involved in the project please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
February and March 2021- Art Exhibition and Wildlife Hunt
Once these displays begin to appear, children can then use the list to go on a walking wildlife hunt and see how many animals and birds they can spot in windows. It would be wonderful if art was on display from the middle of February Artists, please feel free to choose a creature that isn’t on our list if you prefer! We are simply limiting it to make the wildlife hunt easier to manage.
As you will see from this link, we can connect in with a new initiative by famous British artists too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-55831841
